Young Persons Foyers celebrate National Supported
Housing Month
The successes and achievements of
residents and stakeholders that are involved with "Young Persons
Foyers" was celebrated recently at the Endeavour Foyer run by mhs
homes. The event was held in conjunction with the National Housing
Federation as part of National Supported Housing Month.
The campaign is intended to promote
the vital work housing associations, service providers and local
authorities do in their local community. Liz Davies mhs homes
Supported People Operations Manager said, "We organised this
stakeholders day to celebrate the achievements of everyone involved
with the foyers, from local support groups, Medway Council to mhs,
the Medway PCT and the residents themselves. We had speakers from
all these groups, including a current and two former residents. To
hear about their achievements and the steps they have made to live
independently has been wonderful, we are all very proud of
them."
A former resident of the Endeavour
Foyer, and 2nd year Graphic Design student, Hussein
Panahi, 21 years, gave a talk about his experiences whilst living
there. He said, "I’m very grateful for all the people that helped
me when I was at the Endeavour Foyer. I’ve learnt English, gained
qualifications and made loads of friends. I really appreciate all
the support I’ve had and I hope I can serve as a role model for
other young people living at the foyers."
Caroline Proverbs, Operations Director
for mhs homes said, "All the people that work immensely hard to
provide support for young residents are helping improve their life
chances. We need commitment from everyone to ensure we are meeting
the needs and requirements of all our customers. This has been a
wonderful day to show our appreciation to all those involved."
