Staff of mhs homes raise £632 for Haiti Appeal
Chief Executive Ashley Hook
pledged to clean the shoes of his staff and it wasn’t long before
business was booming and he had a queue of staff waiting to have
their shoes shined by the top man himself.
The pledge was made as part of a
fundraising day for Haiti on which the staff of mhs homes raised
£632 to help victims of the disaster.
Madeline Chainey, PR Manager at mhs
homes said, "On one day everyone from right across the organisation
did something to take part. The suggestion came from the Caretakers
who felt that they would like to do something to help the people of
Haiti. Different teams came up with ideas of ways to raise money so
on the day there was a whole variety of things going on!"
She added, "There was the chance to
pay a £1 to dress down for the day. Homemade cakes were sold by a
team from mhs commercial. The customer contact team held a
competition ‘Guess the baby’
In addition there was a buffet lunch
for £2 per person and a ‘Hats for Haiti competition’ judged by
external visitors from Job Centre Plus who were asked to select
five winners; The most outrageous; The most sober, The most
sophisticated, The most colourful and The most unusual.
As for cleaning shoes, Ed Fitzroy,
Caretaker at Melville Court in Brompton said, "It’s not every day
that you get the chance to have the big boss clean your shoes is
it? He actually made a really good job of them."
