ENCAMS partnersmhs gains Quality Mark from ENCAMS

A national Quality Mark for "cleaner, safer, greener communities" has been awarded to a partnership led by mhs homes.

The group consisting of staff from mhs homes, Medway Council, London and Quadrant Housing, Kent Police and the Shipwrights Avenue Residents Association, Chatham have helped improve the local neighbourhood and were specifically praised for their partnership approach by ENCAMS the body responsible for environmental campaigns.

Bernadine Wells, Chairperson for the residents association said, "We have made a good start to resolving issues in our neighbourhood, through our partnerships. This accreditation is a great boost in showing local residents that positive things are happening in the area. We are not stopping here though, we have got a big tidy up taking place on Saturday 20th June and an open day planned for residents. We want to attract more people to join us to continue making these improvements."

mhs homes has demonstrated their commitment to working with partners and the community in order to make a difference to the standards within the neighbourhood. Local PCSO Laura Bullen said, "We are able to meet with residents on a regular basis now to discuss their concerns and have already noticed a vast improvement."

Councillors Tony and Val Goulden and Cllr Dennis McFarlane have been supporting the initiative to clean up Shipwrights Avenue and working closely with the group of volunteers. Cllr Val Goulden said, "We were delighted to find out we had won this award, especially after everyone has worked so hard. We have a very good working relationship with mhs homes, Medway Police and residents and hope to continue building on this success."

Alan Hughes, mhs homes Environmental Manager said, "By working in partnership with a number of local agencies and residents we are making great progress. This is the first quality mark we have achieved and one that we hope to achieve in other neighbourhoods."

David Cockcroft, ENCAMS Housing Director said, "Achieving the Cleaner Safer Greener Quality Mark at Shipwrights Avenue, shows the value of working with residents and other partners to make lasting improvements and the award reflects this excellent team effort. ENCAMS fully supports mhs’ work to make neighbourhoods better places to live."
