New Gas Safety Register
The Gas Safe Register comes into effect on April 1st
2009. After this date there will be no such thing as being "CORGI
registered". All installers wishing to carry out gas work in the UK
must be registered with "Gas Safe Register"
This follows a complete review by
the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) into how the existing CORGI
provisions was working. The HSE decided to re-specify the scheme
and send it out to tender.
The result is that the ‘Gas Safety
Register’ has now been set up and as from April 1st 2009
"CORGI" will no longer be relevant.
In the past, customers would have
been advised to only use CORGI registered engineers for any gas
works and to check their ID cards showed the CORGI logo. As of
1st April, CORGI registration will no longer apply -
look out for the GAS Safe Register logo as shown above.
