mhs homes biggest development to date!
Last year mhs homes joined in partnership with Taylor
Wimpey on the Development Team's largest project to date.
The national developer offered mhs homes 63 new build properties on
the Bells Lane site in Hoo, consisting of 26 x 1 bedroom flats, 8 x
2 bedroom flats, 17 x 2 bedroom houses, 5 x 3 bedroom houses and 7
x 4 bedroom houses. The new homes form part of the final
phases of a much larger development in Hoo. The first
properties which were handed over and occupied in March 2010,
were all for general needs accommodation and provided 37 new family
homes. The remaining 26 x 1 bedroom flats form the
brand new sheltered accommodation pictured above. This scheme,
named Great Paul House will be completed by the end of September
2010 and let to a mixture of residents, some from Kent Homechoice
and others from another mhs homes sheltered scheme in Hoo, St
Werburgh Court. The old sheltered scheme is no longer fit for
purpose and will be demolished in the future. It is an exciting
opportunity for mhs homes to relocate residents to a brand new
block less than a mile away.
mhs homes has been able to provide these new homes by working with
Medway Council to secure just under £4.4 million pounds of grant
funding from the Homes and Communities Agency. All the properties
have achieved an Eco Homes Very Good accreditation.
An official opening is due to be
scheduled to mark the completion of the scheme at the end of
September, with representatives from the HCA, Medway Council, mhs
homes and Taylor Wimpey.
Residents' Coffee Morning
Resident consultation is a key
priority for mhs homes and an essential element in our drive for
continual improvement.
In line with the Resident Involvement Strategy, the Development
Team have been working to gain feedback from our customers who live
in the new homes which have been delivered since March 2008.
On the 25th June we held our first Resident Involvement
event, where we welcomed customers from our new build rented
properties to Broadside for a coffee morning.
Customers were able to have an informal chat to members of the
Development Team about the design, layout and functionality of
their home, members of Housing Management regarding neighbourhood
issues and the Lettings Team about their applications
process.
The experiences and opinions shared by the residents
that attended the coffee morning will be taken in to
consideration at the early design stages for future
schemes. Their feedback is important in helping us to build
homes and communities for our residents, as we strive to achieve
100% satisfaction. We plan to carry out a similar event
soon for the customers living in our new build shared ownership and
intermediate rent properties. Check back for further
information.
