Domestic Violence

The majority of cases of domestic violence or abuse accounts for 16 per cent in the UK. Although in most cases the abuse is against women, it is recognised that men do sometimes experience violence or abuse from their partner. It can occur within both heterosexual and gay relationships.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men at some point in their lives regardless of age, sexuality, background or race have been a victim of domestic violence or abuse. You may feel humiliated, frightened, ashamed, alone and confused - but you are not to blame.

On average Victims of Domestic violence will have been assaulted 35 times before reporting it to the police.
