Help for Heroes announced
as mhs chosen charity for 2009
The mhs homes group chosen charity for
this year is "Help for Heroes."
mhs homes has previously supported
numerous local charities including Cerebral Palsy Care, Kent Air
Ambulance in 2007 and the Macmillan Cancer Care unit in Medway in
2008.
Every year each member of staff is
asked to nominate a charity and then a ballot is held. Fourteen
worthy nominations were made and Help for Heroes, which was put
forward by mhs commercial employee, Tom Burt, was selected.
Tom Burt an Electrician from mhs
commercial said, "I nominated Help for Heroes because I know quite
a few people that are serving at the moment. Although it’s their
job I don’t believe that our service people should be pushed aside
when they come home injured and in need of treatment."
During 2009, mhs homes staff will hold
a series of fundraising events and place collection boxes in
offices.
Help for Heroes was launched in
October 2007 in response to the desire of ordinary people to do
something practical to help wounded servicemen and women. They are
strictly non political, recognize that wars happen under any
government, and are non critical, preferring to get on with the job
of providing practical help and support for wounded people in the
armed forces."
