John Webley

Chairman of mhs homes board
John Webley retired from Morgan
Stanley in 2002 after 18 years service. He was a Managing Director,
administrative head of all the Morgan Stanley entities in the
European region outside London for many years and Chief Executive
of Morgan Stanley’s bank in the UK from 1999. He also served on the
boards of a number of the firm’s banks in Europe, many of which he
helped set-up. He was based in Zurich from 1990-1994, in Morgan
Stanley’s Swiss private bank where he was on the Management Board,
a position he retained until retirement. Prior to joining Morgan
Stanley he spent 11 years with Price Waterhouse, primarily in
Paris, San Francisco and London.
Ashley West

Chairman of the Finance, Risk & Audit Committee and the
Remuneration Committee.
Ashley has worked as an independent
consultant and as a Non-Executive Director of several companies
since 2001. His current appointments include Chairman of Medway
LIFT Company Limited, which develops and maintains affordable
premises for the benefit of the Health and Social Care Community in
Medway and a Non-Executive Director of DW Group Holdings Ltd, a
company involved in the manufacture of street lighting and in
lighting maintenance in the retail sector.
He is a Fellow of The Association of
Chartered Certified Accountants, The Chartered Institute of
Management Accountants and The Institute of Directors and is a
member of the Executive Committee of the Kent Branch of the
IoD.

A resident of Rochester since 1987,
Joe is currently the Chief Executive of a small specialist Housing
Association providing homes for Older People in London. He has
worked in Housing for over 20 years for a number of Local
Authorities and Housing Associations in a variety of roles
including Housing Management, Development, Homeless services and
Best Value and has previously sat on the Board of three Housing
Associations.
John Collinge

John has worked in the banking
industry in London, New York, Europe and the Middle East. His
transition from banking to housing happened in 1993 when he joined
Western Challenge (now Spectrum) as Director of Finance and
Corporate Services. He then went on to become the Deputy Chief
Executive of the Group and Chief Executive of one of the main
operating subsidiaries. In 2005 he started his own consultancy
working on a range of different assignments.
He first became interested in being
part of the mhs team when he was involved in the original financing
package when the housing stock was transferred from Medway Council.
In addition to his involvement at mhs. He is also a group board
member at Radian Group, chairs the Group Audit Committee, and is a
member of a specially formed Treasury Panel.
Simon Braid

Simon Braid is a chartered accountant and former partner with KPMG
where he led the firm’s social housing and charity practices for
over ten years. He led audits and advisory work for some of the
largest charities and social landlords in the UK and also worked
with global commercial companies. He spent two years seconded to
central government during the 1980s.
Simon chaired Housing Corporation’s
inquiry into Ujima in 2008 and has experience of various technical
committees including chairing the Institute of Chartered
Accountants’ Social Housing Committee. He has been trustee of two
charities and is a member of the Third Sector Partnership Board of
the Department for Communities and Local Government. He is a mentor
for the CASS Business School. Since leaving KPMG, Simon has been
ordained and works as a part time non-stipendiary curate in
Hildenborough, Kent.
Eileen Kenward

Chairperson of the mhs community charity 2007
Eileen has been a tenant of mhs homes
for 12 years and has been on the mhs homes group board since 2002.
She previously worked as a Pub landlady for 16 years in pubs around
the UK. As well as being the chair of the editorial panel for mhs
news, she also sits on the forums for Resident Involvement and
Sustainability. Eileen has been the Chair of KASRIA (Kent and
Sussex Residents Involvement Alliance) for the past two years,
which helps different housing associations bounce ideas off each
other for issues involving Resident Involvement.
Pat Austin

Pat was born in Medway and has always
lived in the area. Before retiring in 2006, Pat worked at mhs homes
for 20 years, 16 as a Scheme Manager and 4 as a Home Support
Advisor. Pat has for the past two years worked part time as a Care
Assistant for the Cerebral Palsy Care and during that time she has
studied and passed her NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care. Pat
is also a volunteer for the local Samaritans based in Strood.
Zoe Turner

Zoe was born in Medway and has always
lived in the area. She is married and has one daughter. Zoe
attended Fort Pitt Grammar School in Chatham and after completing
her education started at mhs homes in November 1991. She initially
worked in the Typing Centre and then moved to the ICT Department in
1994, where she now works part time as the ICT Administrator. She
is currently a leader in training for the Girl Guiding movement and
helps out at a local Rainbows unit. Zoe was elected by staff to
become the Staff Representative on the mhs group board in July
2009.

Chris has lived in Medway for eleven years and has been in the
private house building industry for the last 25 years. He was
Managing Director for Ward Homes for 3 years up until 2007 and now
runs his own house building company based in Upnor, developing
small executive schemes.
Roger Lambert

Roger is Managing Director of Montrose
Building Services Ltd a company he founded over 40 years ago. He
has a strong commitment to improving social housing and education
and training within the HVCA sector. Roger is Chairman of the
Heating and Ventilating Contractors Association Internal Audit
Committee, Chairman of the Housing Committee and Member of the
Management Board of Kingston Churches Housing Association and
Trustee of M.E.A.K. (Medical Education of Aid to Kenya
Charity).
Cllr Ted Baker

Director
Ted was born in Maidstone but has lived in Rochester since
1944. He served with the Royal Marines for 2 years National Service
and 5 years in the reserves. He was originally a Printer for 26
years and then became a Prison Officer for 18 years. A Councillor
since 1961, Ted has been Mayor once and Deputy Mayor three times.
He has also been a Rotarian for six years, a Governor at Sir Joseph
Williamsons Mathematical School, a Trustee of Rochester Girls
School and is the Chairman of Trustees for the ABC Project based in
Borstal.
Cllr Tony Goulden

Tony has been a Councillor for the Luton and Wayfield area for the
past 15 years. He has served as the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor and the
Mayor’s Consort once. He previously worked for 33 years as a
Technician at BAE systems based in Rochester. Tony has lived in
Medway all his life and is the Assistant Warden of the Rochester
Bridge Trust, a Trustee member of the Chatham Historic Dockyard and
Chatham Charities, a member of the Friends of Rochester Cathedral
and is Chair of the Board of Governors at Luton Junior School.
Archie Johnstone JP

Director
Archie was born in Scotland but moved
to the Medway towns when he was 3 and has lived here ever since. He
was Managing Director for Alan G Smith Ltd based in Gravesend
before setting up his own business. Archie is a tool specialist
retailer who operates two shops, in Rochester and Maidstone. He
served as a Magistrate for 33 years and was a trustee for the
homeless charity Emmaus. He has also served the local community for
40 years as a Rotarian.
